Ancient Counsel

Ancient Counsel

One day a centaur, a jellyfish, and a hawk riding an elephant made a pact to save the world. The centaur had called this ancient counsel because she couldn’t let the world step on her anymore. She had had enough!
They met in a mystical clearing in the forest and the ground was covered in dry brown leaves. Hawk addressed the group by flying way up in the sky, way way up, and landing on the tallest tree for miles and miles. Hawk picked the smallest newest bud in her beak and then glided back to the foot of the centaur laying the bud at her feet.
Elephant breathed deeply. Centaur said boldly “I cannot abide these humans ridiculous folly and their disrespect for life and all of nature!” and raised her hoof as if to smash the tiny bud. “If I were to smash this helpless plant, I would be human”.
Elephant took another deep breath as hawk and jellyfish looked on compassionately anxious and worried. “Aren’t you half human?” asked elephant with a sly smile. “Ah yes” said the centaur looking a little down “and that IS the problem! I love this plant. It will save us all. So, we must fight this human blight!” Centaur was very upset. Jellyfish looked on with great interest. Hawk flew up in the sky and screamed “dragon bones and conch shells will heal this upheaval!” Elephant meditated as he connected with the subtle vibrations present.
The trees quietly approved of the struggle that they were witnessing as sunlight illuminated the conspirators.
Centaur stomped her hoof down hard just missing the plant and said, “I’m tired of letting this go! They are killing my life! All life!” Elephant slowly opened his eyes and said, “Yes, and we must stop you from being killed, we love you. And, who will care for this plant?” Hawk landed on Centaur’s shoulder wrapped her wings around her neck and said, “we need you Centaur, you are a bridge. You are the plant protector, and the only one of us that the humans will listen to.”
Tears came to Centaur’s eyes and she straightened her back as it had been before the slump. Determined grace had returned to her face as she said, “I remember now…”
The counsel members embraced and slowly turned to leave except for Centaur who leaned down and gently picked up the plant that would save the world. With her hoof, she cleared some soil and placed the plant in the ground and began to cry. She was careful to let the tears water the plant so it could continue to grow and grow and grow.

Bubble Boy

Bubble Boy

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful boy who loved to wear a pink tutu. He loved animals and tickle fights. He sometimes got scared and would hide in his head.

Sometimes he made a clicking sound when he spoke just like his dad.
Sometimes he wanted to jump into the tv and disappear forever in fairy tales.

The boy was scared to death of feeling bored and would do-do all the time.

One day he was blowing bubbles in his backyard at night and the sky was bigger than big. His parents were busy doing parent things inside the house, so he decided to blow the biggest bubble in the world.

He tried many times, but they always popped. So he took a deep deep breath from the belly of earth and slowly blew.

The bubble grew and grew, and grew and grew.

The boy couldn’t believe his eyes and continued to blow. After a while, the bubble was so huge that it filled the known sky, and he began to lift off the ground.

The boy in the pink tutu held on and blew.

As he floated into outer space, the bubble grew so big that it surrounded earth and the sun and even the stars, and he continued to blow. He blew until the bubble was bigger than the universe - until there was no more time and everything was inside the bubble.

He realized that he had blown the biggest bubble ever, yet he was caught outside and wanted in. He couldn’t do this without popping the bubble, but he wanted to go home.

So, he inhaled everything until he was home.

Standing in his back yard again, he felt full for the first time in his young life and laid down in the grass watching the stars shine.

Chapter 23

Chapter 23

Magic is real
Feel vibrations of all things
Real is magic

I did this activity at the beach here in NC. I was in the midst of training in generative trance/ self-relations therapy developed by Steve Gilligan. This training is very personal and involves living in a house together for 5 days with very open and supportive people. I was getting out to the beach often and feeling the connection to the sun and wind, but the ocean seemed too big and scary. Usually, I feel a strong connection to the ocean. I was running on the beach and realized that the lack of attraction was more like reality. I’m not meant to be in the ocean and that’s ok. When that happened it opened me to connect with the ocean and I found the healing energy of the ocean not in merging with or living in the ocean, but in gratitude for the ocean being a powerful force of nature. I could feel the ocean in my body and the water that I am made of reaching out to the waves. They taught me that life is waves, waves of emotion, connection, wind, time, and experience and on and on.

At this training, I had a moment of open clarity and found a voice for some of my words in the form of a child's fable. I’ll share one here:

This story was very healing for me to write and I feel very grateful to nature for inspiring these words.

3 important things:
I learned that I continue to grow my gratitude for nature.
I learned that I don’t always understand my connection with nature at first.
I learned that things in nature have many many lessons.

“respectfully shaking hands with the wind,
palms open and connected,
words and music float through my body into the world”
